Mad to the Bone 1/2 Marathon

Mirian and Jovan completed the Mad to the Bone 1/2 Marathon this past weekend.   Great job to both of you!

Mount Elbert (and Jacques Peak and Mt Sneffels) Summit

Congratulations to Pati for climbing Mount Elbert! Her first 14000+ ft summit. Great Job!  But she wasn’t done yet!  Pati said: “Thanks to training with a fabulous trainer like Laurie, a little bit of planning, and lots of time spent hiking many beautiful trails in Summit County, CO, I was ready and able to summit 3 great Colorado peaks this summer! The first was Mt. Elbert near Leadville, CO (14,433 ft), next was Jacques Peak near Copper, CO (13,211 ft) and the grand finale was summiting Mt. Sneffels with my husband (14,158 ft) near Ouray, CO!”

Big 10 10K race

Susan completed the Chicago Big 10 10K race. This was Susan’s first running race in a while, so great work!

Naperville Rotary Club Bike Ride

Peter (60 miles), Catherine, Wally and Michelle (40 miles each) completed the Naperville Rotary Club Bike Ride. Great Job!

Route 66 Half Iron Triathlon **2nd Half Iron**, Route 66 Stoneman Sprint Triathon **First Triathlon**

Peter completed the Route 66 Half Iron today.   Catherine completed the Route 66 Stoneman Sprint Triathlon.  This was Peter’s 2nd Half-Iron completion and this was Catherine’s First Triathlon!   Great job!!

RAGBRAI Bicycle ride across Iowa

Susan completed the RAGBRAI bicycle ride across Iowa.  This is a multi-day ride that covers over 400 miles.  This is Susan’s second RAGBRAI ride. Great job Susan!

Chicago Yacht Club – Race to Macinac

Jerry and his boat Providence finished 1st in their Section at the Race to Macinac this weekend.   Rough seas and a strong headwind were challenging for the racers!

Waterfall Glen Extreme 10 Miler

Mary ran the Waterfall Glen Extreme 10 Mile race.   It rained the whole race but she did it!   She was also 6th in her age group!

Joliet July 4 Century Ride

Peter rode 50 miles and Catherine and Michelle rode 35 miles at the Joliet July 4 Century Ride.   Great job in hot, humid conditions!

4 on the Fourth 5K

Mary ran the 4 on the Fourth 5K.   Great job in hot, humid conditions.

Clarendon Hills Daisy Dash 5K **1st in age group!**

Mary was 1st in her age group at the Clarendon Hills Daisy Dash 5K!

Grandma’s Marathon  **new Marathon Maniacs member!**

Peter ran a 3:33 at Grandma’s Marathon in very hot & humid conditions in his 3rd marathon within 90 days.  This qualifies him for Marathon Maniacs!  Great job Peter!

River Grove FOP 5K Race **5th overall! 1st in age group! 2nd in age group (4 clients)!**

A great day for L2 Performance Training runners today at the River Grove FOP 5K race.  Peter was 5th overall and 2nd in his age group.  Mary was 1st in her age groupLily was 2nd in her age group!  Michelle was 2nd in her age group!   Colin was 2nd in his age group!  Carolyn also completed the race (running with her daughter Lily).   Great job to all L2 PT Runners!!

Udder Century Bike Ride – Crystal Lake, IL **1st Century Bike Ride!**

Peter  completed his first Century bike ride at the Udder Century.   Catherine completed the 31 mile ride at the Udder Century.

Chicagoland Spring Marathon **new Marathon PR!  2nd in age group – Marathon!**

Mary, Peter and Tom completed the Chicagoland Spring Marathon.  Mary was 2nd in her age group and set a new PR of 4:27!  This was Tom’s First Marathon!   Peter ran a very impressive 3:35one month after his Boston Qualifying run.   Great job to all!

Mary said: “I couldn’t do it without all your training and encouragement!”   Thanks Mary!   Very proud of your PR!

Green Bay Marathon

Wally completed the Green Bay Marathon in windy conditions.   Great job!

Quarryman Challenge

Michelle ran a great time at the storm-shortened Quarryman Challenge (5K). Great job today!

Kalamazoo Half Marathon

Jovan completed the Kalamazoo Half Marathon. Jovan is planning a series of Half Marathons this year.

Illinois Races (Marathon, Half-Marathon 10K) **Boston Qualifying Marathon Time!  2nd in age group – Half Marathon!**

Peter completed the Illinois Marathon in Another Boston Marathon Qualifying Time of 3:23:35!
  Peter was also 4th in his Age Group!!  Peter said: “Thanks Laurie, this time should get me in (to run in the Boston marathon – usually need about 3-4 minutes better than the qualifying standard – Peter’s time is over 6 minutes better than the standard). I believe I earned myself an ‘A’ for effort and execution… Thanks for all your support.”  Peter has another marathon upcoming this spring so watch out for him!

Karl was 2nd in his Age Group at the Illinois Half Marathon in a time of 1:41!!  Great work in his first race of the season!  Karl said: “I felt good and had no issues.  I was actually passing runners throughout the race – my first two miles were the slowest.  It was a good feeling to finish strong.”

Catherine completed the Illinois 10K race for her first race of the year!  She finished 5 minutes faster than last year at the same race – great work!

Naperville Women’s Half Marathon

Mary completed the Naperville Women’s Half Marathon. This was a tune up race for her marathon coming up in about a month. Her preparations are going well!

Sly Fox 10K **Age group winner – 10K!  new PR – 10K!**

Kurt won his age group at the Sly Fox 10K this week. His first 10K in over 3 years. He had been limited by injury but then enrolled in RunSMART:

“I want to thank you for the RunSMART class.  I’ve been continuing to do some of the exercises you taught us and my knees feel great.  My feet are better, too.

I did a 10K last Saturday.  I hadn’t run any races longer than 5K for about 3 years.  I did the Sly Fox race in St. Charles.  Pretty hilly!  I ran 57:39. I was hoping for a little better time, but I won my age group (65+).”

Jovan set a 4 minute PR at the Sly Fox 10K. Jovan is also a RunSMART participant. Jovan said: “As always, thank you so much for your help!!!”

2018 Boston Marathon

Congratulations Carolyn on completing the 2018 Boston Marathon in 4:20 in very difficult conditions!   Great Job Carolyn on your first Boston Marathon!

Shamrock Shuffle 8K

Michelle ran the Shamrock Shuffle 8K.  She’s just getting warmed up for her spring racing season!

Bolingbrook St Paddy’s Day Half Marathon **2nd in age group – Half Marathon!**

Michelle ran the Bolingbrook St Paddy’s Day Half Marathon in 2.07. Great Job Michelle!   Wendy finished in 1:57 (2nd in age group) – great work!

Preparation for Spring Racing

Clients are busy strength training and following their running programs to prepare for Spring Races, including: Kalamazoo 1/2 Marathon (1 client), Quarryman Challenge (1 client), Chicagoland Spring Marathon (2 clients), Green Bay Marathon (2 clients), Twilight Madison 1/2 Marathon (1 client), Route 66 1/2 Ironman (1 client).   Stay tuned for their results!
